Versus Evil ceases operations after 10 years
Versus Evil, founded in 2013 to give indie game developers an alternative to big publishers, has laid off its entire staff. In nearly 10 years, Versus Evil has published beloved titles such as The Banner Saga series, Pillars of Eternity, and Mothergunship.
In the official statement from the company, the closure was finally confirmed. In his farewell message, he thanked the players for their support. Versus Evil’s production manager Lance James announced that all employees have been laid off.
Versus Evil was acquired by publisher TinyBuild in 2021. After the acquisition, it faced a legal dispute with TinyBuild over unfulfilled obligations. TinyBuild paid the publisher $3.5 million to resolve the issues.
