Insomniac Games, the name behind the popular Spider-Man franchise, was recently hit by a ransomware attack and millions of files, including employee information, contracts, future game plans, footage from the Wolverine game, and budget planning, were released after the ransom demanded in bitcoin was not paid. A few days later, the game company released a statement.
“We are both saddened and outraged by the recent cyber attack on our studio and the emotional toll it has taken on our team. We have been internally focused on supporting each other for the past few days,” Insomniac Games said on its social media platform.
Wolverine game will continue to be developed
Insomniac said of the Wolverine game, for which in-game visuals, videos and a pre-beta version were leaked, “Marvel’s Wolverine is proceeding as planned. The game is in production and will evolve as all our plans do. We will share official information about Marvel’s Wolverine when the time comes.”
